How did you come up with this?

There are very important social components to a cooking project. This is very difficult to do without being successful. I started from scratch. Because it was so much fun, we wanted to create some cool ones. If we did an episode of BAM or if that show made money, then I would come out. We could try to recreate a cooking idea and do a show on it.

Who has inspired you about cooking in New Zealand?

Waltz was the founder of the University of Otago, and she is a huge cultural influencer to me too. I've also done things like make cookbooks, book competitions and maybe my own cooking show. I love cooking. So much, she and I are just really connected, really nice, really talented people.

What is the best way to cook in New Zealand?

Just in New Zealand. So much more than anywhere else in the world. That's really the beauty of it. Every family, everybody comes to work. If you go for a walk in an isolated area or you go to a restaurant in your area, or if you go for an on-the- go dinner or you go on a bike ride, New Zealand will definitely have the opportunity to show you what we do so you just won't be taken by surprise.
