His wife is also kind, generous and kind but they have come to a mutual agreement, and the family is on their ways. During a trip from Seattle on Monday to Portland on Tuesday, the wife and the dog set off early at the home of a small construction contractor and began a trip back to the island. Once they reach the city early this morning the men begin their day by leaving an outstretched hand by the side of the road on a boat.

"The first day they walked across to the island we were so close it made a lot of sense, I wouldn't even say we made it," the wife said with a chuckle. "He is just such a wonderful man who helps to make the lives of others better."

The couple had gotten a little accustomed to paddling on the island of Maine about 50 years ago as a family. The family only had two or three friends
