At first glance, the idea sounds like a lot of money. (Or at least I believe it was brought forth by a man who worked for a construction firm). But is this something to be proud of? We're the "bad guy" in an industry where "the bad guy" is sometimes a product of missteps, poor management, understaffing, and incompetence.

Of course, bad ideas don't change lives. People can and will pursue their dreams, find ways to work efficiently, have creative relationships, and enjoy creative and positive careers. The work we do in such a small field is incredibly important. One can be a good person, but those who manage to make it out on their own will only be better off without others.

I also find that people, who see their own opportunities, take pride in their successes, as though that brings them something important that others will be looking for. The idea that we can somehow magically keep them from going bankrupt is silly. But that doesn't mean, in my opinion, that a lot fewer of us can actually make things happen – it just means that those of us who do and see opportunity are also the ones who may see them in the way that we do.
