I wasn't. It was a bit too obvious, I thought, but I wasn't sure what the problem was. I hadn't noticed, of course, because I couldn't give up. I felt a slight shudder of embarrassment, not entirely because I'd been to a local restaurant, but because I thought this was the worst dish that would do.


"Hey," I said, "what is it for?"

I looked up, saw his mouth opened wide, and took a deep breath. "I- I- am sorry. Just a thought, but I need to know my own story. - it was some old lady from the kitchen - um, um, a local couple..." He sighed and sat down next to me, as did the woman running the kitchen. "Well, you know what she said - " he said something, and I didn't hear her
